Tonto’s Expanding Head Band – Cybernaut {1971}

Tonto’s Expanding Head Band is a electronic music project by Malcolm Cecil and Robert Marguleff. Cecil started to build the first and still the largest multitimbral polyphonic analog synthesizer in the world called TONTO (“The Original New Timbral Orchestra”) in 1968. The duo released only two albums and became popular as session musicians for Stevie Wonder. TONTO was featured on albums by Quincy Jones, Bobby Womack, The Isley Brothers, Gil Scott-Heron and Joan Baez and was also used in movie “Phantom of the Paradise” by Brian De Palma in 1974. It’s been reissued in 2013 by Real Gone Music, you can still buy it at Forced Exposure.
