The Progressive Seekers of the Blue Grass Independant Community – Western Drag {1971}

This groovy funky reggae track with Morricone-style harp and fuzzy guitars from 1971 is by the French studio project “The Progressive Seekers of the Blue Grass Independant Community” (sic). The two producers of the album are credited as Calmedo and Meschel. Calmedo’s real name was Albert Raisner, a known harp player in the Trio Raisner in the 1950s and a living legend hosting various radio and TV shows in France. His show “Age Tendre et Tetes de Bois” aired from 1961 to 1967 and featured artists such as The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder and Isaac Hayes. Interesting trivia include that he was on tour with Django Reinhardt in his teenage years, shared the stage with Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and Marlene Dietrich, married Miss France 1977 and was knighted by the French president in 1977. He died in 2011.
