Kareem Isaaq & Middle Eastern Rock – Besasha {1967}

Incredibly hard-rocking middle-eastern sounding track from (you wouldn’t guess) New York. The band also was known under the name The Devil’s Anvil. The world in 1967 wasn’t so different from 2015, citing Wikipedia: “Unfortunately for The Devil’s Anvil, their album was released during escalating tensions between Israel and neighboring Arab countries and the Six Day War, or the Arab-Israeli War, in 1967. Subsequently, radio stations would not touch the album because of its controversial sound.” The track appears (in a different version) on their LP and (as heard) on the compilation Waking Up Scheherazade – Vol. 1 Arabian garage psych nuggets from the late 60s and early 70s.
